This snooker-, pool-, and carambole center owes its name to the fact that the historic building once housed the provost, and also served as a jail. Nowadays, there are a whopping 21 pool tables spread over 3 floors. On the first floor, you’ll find a specialty beer cafe with over 80 kinds of beer served both from the tap and the bottle. For a while now they have also been serving delicious home-made cocktails. For summer nights, the lounge patio in the garden is opened as well, and you can enjoy sitting outside.
As ambassador for the Orval (for the laymen; this is a trappist beer), this store obviously draws true beer lovers. But not only the Orval draws a crowd; the other specialty beers are hugely popular as well. Families, business people, young people, couples... Who doesn’t like playing pool while enjoying a delicious beer?
The place reminds one of a very Dutch, very cozy brown cafe. The atmosphere is always relaxed and comfortable. The building is beautiful and old, and historic. Because of the different floor, it doesn’t feel like a busy room stuffed with pool tables. The street is easily accessible by car and is in the downtown area, right near the other shopping streets.
