This restaurant is both traditional and contemporary, it has been around for over 20 years and has a mainly North Indian cuisine with various menus. The broad choice of dishes is what makes Tagore so appealing for a wide range of customers. This restaurant seats 45 comfortably.
Signature dishes are the well known Tandoori chicken and Murg Saagwala (chicken and spinach). The host and hostess (always dressed in traditional Indian clothing) are almost always present and they make the guests feel as though they have been swept away to India.
Tagore is a cozy, hospitable and homely family-owned business. The place exudes romance and contemporary freshness. Guests dine in serenity, yet they’re at walking distance from the lively neighborhood of the Rembrandtplein and the Leidseplein.
The proprietor, mr. Nayyar opened this restaurant 20 years ago with simple Surinam / Indian cuisine, but through the years the emphasis shifted to it’s Indian origins. In 1997 a thorough renovation was carried out, changing the cozy little place into today’s stylish restaurant.
