In 1220 Dordrecht, usually referred to as ‘Dordt’ by its inhabitants, was the first city in Holland to be given city rights. Since then, Dordrecht has grown into a welcoming town, in which the atmosphere is determined by the beautiful historical buildings, the docks and the canals. It’s great for shopping, but there are also museums and every first Sunday of the month features the Art round, on which dozens of art, antique and souvenir shops, antique book dealers and galleries are open. Every two years, the city draws in around 250,000 visitors for ‘Dordt in Stoom’, Europe’s largest steam event, which takes place in the historical harbours. Where to shop in Dordrecht? The best shopping streets are the Vriesestraat, Vleeshouwersstraat and the Voorstraat. They have the highest density of independent shops. Have a look at the selection we made for you.
