For over 30 years this chocolate store has been famous in Zwolle and its surroundings. The collection consists of handmade bonbons, truffles, marrow-pipes (a Dutch pastry), and seasonable chocolate products like chocolate letters, eggs, and rings. And if you have a special occasion coming up for, say, Abraham and Sarah, they can make you something in style. You can also buy several types of Zwolle-delicacies like the Peperbus (filled with a ganache of milk chocolate), the Sassenpoort-bonbon (filled with whipped cream and hazelnut creme), and the Hanzebonbon (shaped like Zwolle's emblem and filled with advocaat, spice, and Zwolle Hanzebitter). Do you want to know how to make all this good stuff yourself? Follow one of the workshops! Of course you can also come here for other occasions, such as birthdays or weddings - just let them know what you need.
Bonbonnerie Borrel makes its products using Callebaut chocolate. Callebaut started the 'Growing Great Chocolate' program in 2012, and made a clear choice for purchasing sustainable cacao for its chocolates. The store aims to be transparent besides being sustainable, and works with an open atelier, so one can see exactly how everything is made. While you'd expect that especially women would love this store, there are just as many male fans. The customers love the whipped cream truffles, as well as the Zwolle truffles.
The store isn't big, but it's cozy. It's nicely laid-out with friendly staff. The square on which the store is located knows a great diversity of stores, where the owners all get along well.
