Hip, stylish, and durable: that’s what Nukuhiva is all about. This pleasant store consciously chooses fair trade products and fashion labels that produce their merchandise with respect to man and nature. The fair trade brands available here make their clothes with durability as their main guideline. Hip and durable definitely go hand in hand at Nukuhiva.
At Nukuhiva you’ll find hip and beautiful ‘fair fashion’ such as clothes, shoes, and accessories. The collection ranges from sporty to tough to chic and feminine. Besides the clothes, Nukuhiva sells accessories and remarkable lifestyle items. For delicious fair trade chocolate and fun books you have come to the right place as well. Because their concept is fair fashion, the store attracts very specific customers, who then experience that fair fashion can be fashionable, stylish, and affordable!
There’s a warm and informal atmosphere: it’s cozy and casual. The staff is very service-oriented, and loves to help you make the right decision. And: there’s always coffee and tea waiting for you!
The first Nukuhiva-store was opened in 2006, when Floortje wrote the book ‘100 spots you should visit’. Beforehand, a deal was made: part of the income would be used for a school project in Uganda. The book sold so well, that there was enough money for a second project, which gave birth to the idea of opening a fair trade store in Amsterdam. In 2008, another store was opened in Utrecht. With these two fair trade stores, Floortje hopes to introduce a wide audience to the phenomenon of ‘fair clothing’. De Haarlemmerstraat is a very cozy shopping street, where you’ll find lots of small stores with unique products. Whether you’re looking for exclusive living accessories, delicacies, vintage wear, or other specialties: you’ll find it all right here!
