Technically “Zonde om op te Zitten” is not a real store, but a workshop. The owners Plantien and Hans, usually work on assignment. They design, decorate and upholster. Plantien does the upholstery and she has a collection of wonderful materials at her disposal. Hans does the painting, illustrating and decorating, as well as the designs and wall paintings.
The store’s name and window shop are focus on the upholstery, but inside the store, you´ll find all kinds of interior design activities. The staff is personable and approachable. Plantien and Hans always work with their clients and virtually anything is possible.
The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and just a little bit messy. Work is always abundant, both in the store and on location.
Due to the on-location nature of certain projects, you would do well to call one of the numbers listed above in advance. However, if Hans and Plantien are working in the store, feel free to stop by and walk in. You will not run into any parking problems during the day. The Prins Hendrikstraat is a great and welcoming shopping street with a large number of very diverse stores. It is also a great street to take a break from shopping and enjoy a cup of coffee or, during the summer, take a rest on one of the terraces.
Fabrics include Casamance and Andrew Martin.
